Questa piattaforma è costituita da un insieme di specifiche che definiscono le caratteristiche e le interfacce di un nucleo di tecnologie per l’implementazione di applicazioni enterprise o mission critical. Il linguaggio J2EE include un insieme di componenti che estendono le funzionalità di base della piattaforma Java. I componenti Enterprise JavaBeans definiscono un sistema distribuito che rappresenta il cuore della specifica J2EE. Questo modulo, infatti, fornisce le tipiche caratteristiche richieste dalle applicazioni enterprise, come scalabilità, sicurezza e persistenza dei dati.
